Electric guitars are currently the main focus at Lawrence Guitars. I don’t mass produce my guitars on duplicating machines or CNC Machines. If a high volume guitar maker wants to use CNC machines to make multiple cookie-cutter guitars, that is well and good, but for a one-man lower volume builder I don’t see the need. I would rather spend my time working with wood rather than spending hours involved in computer programming and maintaining and repairing a complicated computer-controlled router robot. I build one guitar at a time with my two hands and I build the style and type of guitar that I personally like and prefer to play. My favorite scale length is 25 inches and I prefer the sound and function of double humbucker guitars. I do make other popular scales such as 24 3/4 inches and 25 1/2 inches. All my work is done the traditional way with basic woodworking tools found in a typical woodworking shop such as hand tools, tape measures, calipers, planes, routers, saws, and sanders. I pay special attention to each detail of the building process and build each instrument as if I were building it for myself. I some cases I build my own magnetic pickups. When you check out my guitars you may see the resemblance to some major guitar brands but none are exact copies. I prefer to make my own styles but when you get right down to it a guitar is a guitar. Most every guitar shape is some variation of the basic traditional figure 8 shape of a classic acoustic guitar. That is the style you will see on most of my guitars. One exception is the rectangular-shaped Bo Diddly style. So far I haven’t had the urge to create the outlandish X shaped or Flying V Styles. My guitar building goal is consistent quality!
